I just recently got back from the 2013 International Photoshop World Conference in Orlando, FL and feeling as jazzed as ever. It was was 4 days well spent! Meeting great people with the same passions as myself while having the opportunity to soak up the vast artistic knowledge and experience from all those great instructors - one can't but help to become a more well-rounded and passionate artist.
But the most exciting thing that happened to me was that I was nominated as one of three finalists for the 2013 Guru Awards for Photo Montage (aka Compositing) category. I was allowed to sit down front in an audience of a 1000+ fellow photographers and photoshop geeks to await my fate during the Opening Keynote Ceremony.
As the Guru Awards were being presented and my category came up, the world began to slow down and my environment became surreal, like Alice looking down the rabbit hole. In my hypnotic state, I could hear my name and image being announced as the winner!! What??? Shock, confusion, happiness and excitement all raced through my fuzzy mind in the time it took to blink my eyes. Feeling like I just won the Academy Awards (minus the million dollar paycheck), I sprinted to the stairs, avoided tripping as i walked out onto the stage and happily accepted my award as the bright stage lights bounced off my shiny bald head blinding several people in the front row! I mean seriously, just look at the hot pink glow coming off my head in the picture below! Sorry people in the front row! Anyways...
This was such an amazing experience and I'm grateful and honored to have been a part of the Photoshop World Conference and selected as a winner of the Photoshop Guru Award for Photo Montage! Thank you NAPP and all those involved!
